Project One
- The journey of this company precedes its birth by more than 2 years under the name of Project One. Project One started in early 2021 during the pandemic. The project aimed to develop a kerosene liquid oxygen rocket engine. The project underwent many changes in the last 3 years.
- Project One commenced in 2021 with support from Bharat Forge’s Aerospace Department. The project’s objective was to build a reusable kerosene-liquid oxygen rocket engine. The detailed concept was presented by Manan to the Bharat Forge Aerospace Team in January. Vinith and Kalyani joined the team in April and August, respectively.
- Over the following months, the team delved into rocket fundamentals and identified challenges in rocket engine design. They also encountered supply-side issues and highlighted technology restrictions, such as ITAR regulations. During the engine’s development, the team engaged with various international teams from Ukraine to the US.
- Through this process, the team discovered that propulsion technology in India is primarily developed by government agencies. Consequently, the Indian space industry either imports technologies or runs expensive development programs. Recognizing the absence of a propulsion company focused on developing necessary propulsion systems and subsystems, the team began working to address this gap.
- During our journey of over two years, they identified a compelling business case for their work. We saw an opportunity to provide propulsion technology for Indian and similar markets while leveraging the existing supply chain that ISRO has developed over many decades. Armed with this knowledge, we formed Thrustworks Dynetics on 22/02/23.
